The saccular Dactylorhiza maculata (Brongn.) Soo, 1962) is a herbaceous plant belonging to the family Orchidaceae, spontaneous Italian flora.
Description
This plant, mainly glabrous, is 25 to 90 cm high. The organic form is bulbous geophytes (G bulb), which is a perennial herb that brings the buds in place underground. During the season, no adverse air bodies and gems are in organs called underground bulbs or tubers, storage organs that annually produce new stems, leaves and flowers. Terrestrial orchid is because unlike other species, is not "epiphyte", that does not live at the expense of other plants of the greater proportion.
Roots
The roots are collated and minor bulbs, and are at the top of the bulbs.
Leaves
The leaves are oblong or oval-lanceolate, folded and careened up and standing still available (nearly license), and the area has some "spots" dark (hence the species name) to form ellipsoid-oblong; are Furthermore, the parallel ribs (not too obvious) arranged longitudinally. The leaves can be either radical (or baseline) and cauline; amplessicauli and both are embracing the stem (those below cover the stem up to half their length).
* Leaves baseline: the baseline are more oval. Size of leaf: width 3 to 4 cm length of 5-9 cm.
* Leaves Caulino: Caulino those are more lanceolate and lesiniformi and progressively more restricted.
Inflorescence
The inflorescence is composed of flowers gathered in dense spikes. In the first flowering inflorescence shape is conical, then at the end of flowering, stabilizes in a cylindrical form. The flowers are placed in the armpits of membranous bracts lanceolate-linear, longer than the flowers (they can appear reddish apex). The flowers are also resupinati, turned upside down by twisting the ovary , in which case the lip is face down. Lower bract length: 3 to 4 cm.
Flower
The flowers are hermaphrodite and zygomorphic irregularly, pentacyclic (perigonium to 2 whorls of tepals, two whorls of stamens (one only fertile - the other being atrophied), a whorl of the stylus) . The colors vary from light pink to purple and also white with darker mottling present mainly on the lip (sometimes at the margins of tepals).
