Heliotrope

Heliotrope (Heliotropium) is a genus of Sweet Marjoram (Boraginaceae). The genus includes 250-300 species. The Oudriekse helios meaning sun and turning tropein means. Naamt This refers to the habit of the plants to continue their leaves toward the sun to run.

The plants are 30-80 cm in height and 100 cm wide. Contribute to the woody stem of the plant up to 8 cm wide, broad-oval to lancetvomige, finely hairy leaves with prominent veins.

The genus is worldwide in warm regions all present. Netherlands and Belgium are not species. Most species are not winter hardy.

The general preference of plants from this genus is given to well-drained, peaty soil with not too much sun and not much wind.
