Helleborus lividus

Helleborus lividus
Halleborus lividus is a species of the family Ranunculaceae.

Description
It is a herbaceous perennial with dark green leaves and flowers blue-green light is almost completely open in the winter. The flowers are fragrant and the plant reaches 45 cm high and 30 cm wide, being tolerant to frost and lack of water. It spreads by seeds.

Distribution and habitat
It is natural to Mallorca and possibly Cabrera (Spain). This form was considered by Aiton Balearic as the nominal species: Helleborus lividus lividus. The same botanical nominated as Corsica and Sardinia as Helleborus lividus corsicus.

The White Beak Rush

The white beak rush (Rhynchospora alba) is a perennial plant belonging to the cypergrassenfamilie (Cyperaceae). The species is on the Dutch Red List of plants as common, but significantly decreased. The plant is native to Eurasia and North America.

The sod-forming plant grows 15-50 cm tall and has short rhizomes. The plant is 1-2 cm long, white winter nodules. The stem is triangular and rough upwards. The leaf sheaths are tan and the lower leaves is missing the blade.

The white beak rush blooms from June to August with whitish, later often becoming red, 4-5 mm long spikelets. Per-desk are two flowers. The brushes at the foot of the upward-desk have teeth. A flower has two stamps and two stamens. The spikelets are arranged in a head-like inflorescence. Bracts about as long as the head (ball-desk).

The fruit is a 1-2 mm long, lens-shaped nut with a smooth beak.
